Fulfilling a Dream — Mary Anne's Journey to Maui
Born and raised in Boston, Mary Anne grew up watching her parents build something from nothing — her father a bricklayer, her mother a homemaker, and eventually both of them partners in their own real estate company. That foundation of hard work and entrepreneurship shaped everything that followed. She went on to graduate from Boston College with a business degree, then launched her professional career at Digital Equipment Corporation, one of the era's leading Fortune 500 companies.
After 10 years of career growth culminating in managing DEC's strategic major accounts, Mary Anne's desire to broaden her perspective led her to accepting an executive sales role with a software company in Los Angeles — the geographical location lent itself to getaways in Hawaii. During one of these trips, Mary Anne decided she'd had enough of the corporate rat race. She wanted to explore another world: waking up each day to breathtaking views, sunny days and a better quality of life.
Consistent with her ability to quickly recognize and act on an opportunity, Mary Anne took a 3-month sabbatical and moved to Maui. Her conservative upbringing rationalized that she would take this time to get this paradise desire "out of her system" and then return to California. She never made it back.
Having purchased her first home at age 23, real estate was a familiar business and a natural progression for her career. She has owned her own company (twice) and true to form, acted on many exciting, life and career-expanding opportunities during that time. View full resume on LinkedIn.
Professionally, her passion lies in the long-term relationships she builds with clients — many of whom return through different stages of their lives and, over time, become close friends. Maui draws a particular kind of buyer: someone seeking not just a property, but a way of life. Mary Anne understands that distinction, and makes it her business to help clients find both.
Community Leadership & Cultural Patronage
Mary Anne Fitch is a cornerstone of the West Maui community, dedicated to fostering the island's future through education, healthcare, and the arts. Alongside her husband, Nam Le Viet, she translates her professional success into meaningful community stewardship.
Founding a Legacy in Education
Recognizing the vital need for world-class schooling as Maui began attracting more young families, Mary Anne and Nam became original Founding Members of Maui Preparatory Academy located on West Maui. Since the first 36 students enrolled at Maui Prep in September 2005, the school has grown into an outstanding college preparatory academy that embraces differences in culture, ethnicity, race, religion, and economics with strong academics, athletics, social values, and community commitment. Today, Mary Anne and Nam continue this commitment as members of the Board of Directors for the Maui Preparatory Academy Foundation, a separate 501(c)(3) nonprofit focused on the long-term financial health and land stewardship of the academy.
Advancing Healthcare & Philanthropic Governance
Mary Anne's leadership extends to the island's critical infrastructure. She is an active member of the Maui Health Foundation and a dedicated contributor to the Maui Health Foundation Hospital Hui, a philanthropic group supporting life-saving equipment and facility upgrades for Maui Health hospitals. Additionally, she serves on the Maui Leadership Council of Hawaii Community Foundation (HCF), providing strategic insight for the state's largest charitable organization. Mary Anne and Nam created an endowment with HCF benefiting Maui Preparatory Academy.
Patronage of the Arts & Jazz Maui
A passionate advocate for cultural enrichment, Mary Anne and Nam are longtime patrons of the Art Education for Children Group (AECG). For over a decade, they have opened their home and their grand Bösendorfer piano to host the Jazz Maui series. By hosting world-class musicians, including Grammy winners like Arturo O'Farrill and Tommy James, former Director of the Duke Ellington Orchestra, they help fund essential after-school music programs and workshops for Maui's youth, ensuring the island's artistic traditions continue to flourish. Occasionally, classical music professionals, even members of the San Francisco Symphony, will stop by to play for local music associations.

Mary Anne and her husband Nam Le Viet have been complementing one another's strengths for over 20 years. Until they discovered a shared love of Maui, Mary Anne Fitch and Nam Le Viet were living oddly parallel lives on opposite sides of the world, thousands of miles from their eventual home. Both were globe-trotting executives in the tech industry that brought them in contact with a wide range of people and lifestyles. And now they are the reigning power couple of Maui real estate, having brought their management acumen and multicultural experience to Coldwell Banker Island Properties, focusing on homes valued from $2 million and above.
While many of Nam and Mary Anne's clients are shopping for second homes, they particularly enjoy working with those seeking to make Maui their full-time residence. "We come from an international, multicultural background," explains Mary Anne. "There's a huge social component to helping people join this community, and we've made it our business to share our experience."
A 1991 graduate of the Engineering School of the State of Vaud in Switzerland, Nam is a multilingual Swiss citizen fluent in French, English, German, and Italian. He began his IT career at Digital Equipment Corporation in Lausanne and Geneva, supporting major accounts including Swiss banks, Michelin, Swisscom and Nestlé, before moving to San Francisco to design security frameworks for the insurance and financial services industries. By 2003, Maui had become his full-time home. Nam's deep appreciation for technology is reflected in how professionally and beautifully every listing is represented online — ensuring Mary Anne's properties reach the right buyers, wherever in the world they may be.
